July 18-22, 2023

This trip is designed for experienced backpackers and/or those with an innate adventurous spirit. There will be higher expectations for independence in packing, cooking, trail finding, and difficulty of the hike. We will still keep it fun! but will be giving the kids more opportunity to challenge themselves as they build the confidence to be able to embark on their own trips one day.

If your child has not been on one of my trips before, please set up a time to call me and we can discuss whether this is the right trip for them.

Meet Where and When?

Drop off/Pick up will be at Bond Park in Petaluma (near the playground on Banff Way).

Meet July 18 @ 6am, leave asap

Return July 22 @ approx 5pm

Where are we going?

As we all know, this has been an insane year for snow, which means a late backpacking season. So, the exact trails will be determined closer to the trip based on weather, snow, smoke, and other conditions. We will hike 3-5 miles the first day, and then 5-10 on other days. We will do our best to have a full rest day so that we have time to relax, swim, play games, and explore our surroundings. Our last day tends to be the longest with stronger legs, lighter packs, and milkshakes in our near future. We have lots of itineraries to choose from and amazing guides lined up to accompany our trekkers on an adventure to remember!

In the past, we have gone to Five Lakes Basin and Emigrant Wilderness. These videos of past trips give you an idea of what to expect:
